I always try to drink loose leaf tea instead of tea bags for environmental and health reasons. I won't go into much details but tea bags can contain PFAs and leach microplastics into the tea you drink. Buying tea bags can also create unnecessary waste. Not to mention watching tea leaves bloom in hot water is aesthetically pleasing :)
I drink so much tea, and I now drink even more to get myself through the cold spell in NYC so I decided to try something new. My usual tea routine goes like this:
1. Add loose leaf tea into french press
2. Add hot water
3. Enjoy tea
4. Once done, dump tea leaf into trash <--
5. Repeat
With my green tea (that I got in Japan) this morning, I decided to experiment with the left-over tea leaves. So here is my new routine:
1.-3. Abr.
4. Once done with tea, wring out tea leaves and dump it on newspaper.
5. Spread it out, cover with a mesh bowl and leave it out to dry
Hehe. Please come back for what I will do with the dried tea leaves later. But a little spoiler is that I plan to take advantage of the anti-bacterial properties of catechin in green tea.
